I accidentally peeled off the skin on a cold sore?

I had one cold sore on my upper lip and it dried up today. (Cold sores started about 2 days ago?) So I started peeling the skin around the lips because it was dry, dead skin and I accidentally peeled off the skin where the cold sore was. It burns to the touch and it's open, exposing a small area of flesh. I washed the area and applied this antibiotic ointment on it. My question is, how long will this take to completely heal? I have to go to some family reunion by July 2, (which gives me approximately 9 days) Will it heal by then? What are some ways I can speed up the healing process?
