Is it safe to use petroleum jelly or aquaphor for a belly button piercing?

I just got my belly button pierced a week ago, i have a redness around it. I was wondering if it is safe to use either of those ointments on my belly button. I do clean it with sea salt and water but afterwards i have been putting aquaphor on it. I only used petroleum jelly once. How do i get the redness to go down?
